Message	for the size of the opening. because a lot of the surface area is going to be metal (non-flow area). If you try to force too much the air stalls and, at best you're just adding to the CD for no reason, at worst you could lower the efficiency of the exchanger. Then there is the other bit about not making a difference in traffic (where you're most likely to overheat) that LJ mentioned.
